When our System Design Specialist, Harry Thomas, inspected this home’s crawlspace, he found moldy insulation, deteriorated ground cover, and conditions that could negatively impact the home’s comfort and indoor air quality.
To solve the problem, we recommended a complete crawlspace upgrade designed to seal out moisture, improve energy efficiency, and create a healthier environment throughout the home.
The Solution
Our crew completed the following:
- Removed 850 sq. ft. of moldy, damaged insulation and old ground cover
- Installed a new 6 mil black vapor barrier across the crawlspace floor
- Wrapped all hot and cold water pipes with pipe insulation
- Air sealed the crawlspace and applied an average of 2 inches of closed-cell spray foam to the underside of the floor system (850 sq. ft.)
The Result
The crawlspace is now clean, sealed, and protected from moisture intrusion. With spray foam insulation and a new vapor barrier working together, the home is better equipped for improved energy efficiency, healthier indoor air quality, and year-round comfort.
