Blowing insulation into attic space.

Blown Cellulose Insulation in Eugene, OR

Proudly Offering Free Estimates & a Satisfaction Guarantee

Blown cellulose insulation gets its name from the fact that it is installed by being blown into attics and wall cavities. This process gives your home the R-value it needs while providing a thick layer of insulation.

Not only is this type of insulation easy to install, but it is also incredibly efficient and environmentally friendly. In fact, cellulose insulation is created from recycled materials such as dated newspapers and old wastepaper that would otherwise be thrown out. These materials are made into a thick, fluffy insulation material that holds an R-value of R-4 per inch. To increase the fire rating for this type of insulation, a non-toxic borate solution is used to treat the insulation, which actually gives the material the highest fire safety rating possible, a Class 1. This treatment also makes insulation resistant to harmful elements like insects and mold.

In addition to adding cellulose insulation or replacing your existing fiberglass insulation, if your attic is drafty and requires duct sealing to keep the warm or cool air in the ducts or air sealing to keep any unwanted air out of the attic, our team can help with that, too.

Frequently Asked Blown Insulation Questions

How Thick Should Blown Attic Insulation Be?

It depends on the material blown in. We recommend blown-in cellulose as it takes up less space to get the same R-value as fiberglass, plus animals do not nest in cellulose like they do in fiberglass. The R-38 level is the minimum to do, and when using cellulose, it is 10.5 inches, yet fiberglass is 14.5 inches!
